Michael Johnson Photo-Matched Olympics-Worn Nike "Gold Shoe" (1996). Original photo-matched game-worn cleats by US-Olympian sprinter Michael Johnson who won gold medals in the 200- and 400-meter sprints at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. Michael Johnson worked closely with Nike to produce a pair of light, stable pair over shoes that would be compatible with his unique, upright running style. These shoes feature mismatched asymmetrical Nike Swooshes and the gold colorway - a perfect accent for Johnson's historical accomplishments. Johnson broke world records at the 1996 Olympics with his gold medal-winning time of 19.32 seconds in the 200 meters and the gold medal-winning time of 43.49 in the 400 meters. Johnson became the first man to win both races in Olympic history. The shoes exhibit heavy game wear, with creases throughout the upper and slightly peeling soles.
