The Ten Commandments (Paramount, 1956), Yul Brynner "Rameses" Character Concept Artwork by Arnold Friberg. Vintage painting by Arnold Friberg [American, 1913-2010] rendered in oil on art board in wood (with white fabric) frame measuring approx. 17.75" x 26" [sight: 15" x 23.5"]. Character development art features an early rendering of Rameses as reflected in the original script, powerfully masculine, supremely confident. Friberg was essential in masterfully interpreting and distilling the historically authentic look of the characters in DeMille's remake of his own epic silent film of 1923. This very painting by Friberg appears as a full-page illustration in the comprehensive book Cecil B. DeMille: The Art of the Hollywood Epic (Running Press, 2014). Exhibits age and minor fabric wear.
