Description

Erté Concept Sketch for Unknown Production. Vintage concept sketch by Erté rendered in water color on art paper measuring approx. 9.75" x 12.75". The iconic French artist and designer was brought to Hollywood in 1925 by film producer Louis B. Mayer. Though his career in film was short-lived, he lent his influential art deco aesthetic to several films including Ben-Hur (1925) and Dance Madness (1926). This dynamic sketch, from DeMille's personal collection, is from an unrealized collaboration with the filmmaker. It features annotations on both the front and back. Exhibits production wear and minor staining. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
