Unconquered (Paramount, 1947), Pair of Concept Artworks by Dan Sayre Groesbeck. Vintage pair of concept paintings by Dan Sayre Groesbeck [American, 1878 - 1950] rendered in gouache and charcoal on art board including (1) "Abigail and Captain Holden in Forest" painting measuring 26.75" x 21.25" and (1) "The Blacksmith" painting measuring 27" x 21.5". Groesbeck was DeMille's favored artist and was responsible for all of the concept artwork in the historical epic. These dynamic pieces reflect an early version of the screenplay, which went through several drafts before production. Both paintings are signed by the artist and read: "Dan Groesbeck for Unconquered". Artworks exhibit production wear including edge wear and tearing. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
