Union Pacific (Paramount, 1939), Group of (5) Concept Artworks. Vintage group of (5) artworks including (1) "End of Track" concept painting by Joe De Yong, signed by set designer Roland Anderson, rendered in watercolor and graphite on art board measuring 23.75" x 18.5", (1) "Indians Watch Train" concept painting by Joe De Yong, signed by the artist, rendered in mixed media on art board measuring 14.25" x 11.25", (1) "To the Rescue" concept painting by Dan Sayre Groesbeck, signed by the artist, rendered in charcoal, watercolor, and gouache on art board measuring 26.5" x 23.5", (1) "Indians Set Fire to the Train" concept painting by Dan Sayre Groesbeck, signed by the artist, rendered in watercolor, charcoal, and gouache on art board measuring 25.5" x 23.25", and (1) "Dick Allen" (Robert Preston) character concept sketch by Natalie Visart rendered in watercolor, gouache, and graphite on art board measuring 14.5" x 20". Several of DeMille's resident artists contributed concept artwork for the production, working closely with art directors Roland Anderson and Hans Dreier. De Yong's "End of Track" and Visart's character sketch are showcased in the comprehensive book Cecil B. DeMille: The Art of the Hollywood. Artwork exhibits production wear and exhibition wear including vestiges of old adhesive along margins.
