Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) Chainmail Ensemble Game of Thrones (HBO® Original 2011-2019, Season 7). Original (3) piece ensemble including (1) silver and black knit dress with intricate chainmail effect and highly detailed lion embroidery at the neckline, (1) black molded slashed felt surcoat backed with patent leather, creating a pin-tuck ripple effect, which costume designer Michele Clapton says creates the illusion that viewers can see "directly into Cersei," and (1) black cotton crinoline. This iconic chainmail dress is worn by Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) in Season 7, Episode 7, "The Dragon and the Wolf," as she seeks to intimidate her enemies during the "Dragonpit Accord," where opposing forces strategize about the looming threat of the Army of the Dead. Costume designer Michele Clapton explained, "The costume was crafted by bonding a thin layer of fine patent leather fabric to the felt inside the back, then slashing the material and twisting it in place." Lena Headey remarked, "Wearing the dress made me feel as powerful and unyielding as Cersei herself." Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss added, "The dress symbolizes Cersei's cold, armored exterior and her determination to maintain her power at any cost."
