Description

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Paramount, 1989), Harrison Ford "Indiana Jones" "Vasquez de Coronado" Life Preserver. Original red and white life preserver with ship's canvas panels stitched over a black foam interior, held together by 4-grab straps holding and encircled by a weathered rope. Prop measures approx. 76" exterior circumference, 47" interior, and is approx. 2.5" thick. The fictional ship's name "Vasquez de Coronado" and "Lisboa" are stenciled on white sections at the top and bottom of the prop in black ink. In the third installment of Steven Spielberg's and George Lucas' Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) uses this preserver to save himself after a battle with hired thugs. The ship's name is a callback to a sequence when young Henry Jones Jr. (River Phoenix) discovered Spanish Conquistador Francisco Vázquez Coronado's gold crucifix -- only to have it taken from him by a man known only as "Panama Hat" (Paul Maxwell). Indy recovers the crucifix years later after fighting Panama Hat's henchmen and blowing up his ship. As the ship sinks, Harrison Ford's iconic character swims towards this lifeline and watches the villain's hat float by. Item has production wear - likely from use in the water scenes - has fading and one small tear underneath the top lettering. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
