Description

Gremlins 2: The New Batch (Warner Bros., 1990), Suit Performance Gremlin Mask and Claws. Group of (3) creature suit components including (1) foam rubber Gremlin head sculpted by Jim McPherson and painted by Steve Wang measuring 22" x 16" x 14" and featuring a wired armature in the ears to allow for on-set posing and adjustments, resin eyes and teeth, and cloth neck straps with snap closures, and (2) silicone Gremlin claws measuring 16.5" x 9" x 4" with the right retaining a 2" cloth strip with Velcro fastenings. All pieces have been expertly studio crafted and painted in the signature Gremlin browns, greens, and yellows. Created at Rick Baker's Cinovation Studios during the early R&D phase of Gremlins 2, these costume components were part of a full body suit worn by Denise Cheshire designed for forced perspective shots. These shots were ultimately not used, but archival footage of the suit in action are available at Rick Baker's archive at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. Also included with the lot are (2) 7" x 4" x 2.5" black wood display bases for each glove, (1) 6.25" x 3.5" square wooden base with a 7" x 1" acrylic rod to display the head, and (1) foam mannequin head to allow mask to be attached to the display base. Suit pieces display general production age and wear, with the foam and silicone components remaining flexible. From the collection of the Gremlins Museum. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
