Description
Alien (TCF, 1979; Created 1994), Fifteenth Anniversary Poster Preliminary Pencil Artwork by John Alvin. Killian Enterprises, owned by Jeff Killian, was known for producing limited edition and anniversary movie art posters, often sold at conventions and collector events rather than through studios. For the fifteenth anniversary of Alien (1979), they commissioned artist John Alvin to create a new poster. While the original one-sheet was deliberately vague-featuring a glowing, cracked egg to preserve the film's mystery-Alvin chose to depict the Alien itself, reasoning that by then, its appearance was no longer a surprise. His version showed the creature emerging from a hellish light and swirling mist, elements not seen in the film but typical of his signature style, known as "Alvinizing," which used light and atmosphere to heighten drama and evoke a sense of mystery. Offered here is John Alvin's original graphite artwork for this popular poster, on two leaves of tracing paper. Measures 11" x 16", framed to 20" x 25". In excellent condition. Not examined outside of frame. Also includes framed example of the final poster, measuring 27" x 41". Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Auction Info
