Description
Stevie Ray Vaughan Handwritten Lyrics For an Early Version of the Third Verse of "Telephone Song", Circa 1990. Consisting of 17 lines written in black soft-tip pin on three 5" x 5" white paper napkins. An interesting look at the genesis of SRV's creative process as he sketched out the lyrics that would become "Telephone Song" on The Vaughan Brothers Family Style Album released in 1990. It appears the working title of the song may have been "Truest Tone Phone" as evidenced by the handwritten title on one of the napkins. Ultimately the final song's third verse differs from Stevie's fragmentary notes, but many of the lines made it to the final song. The lyrics on the first example reads: "Your lips in the pictures / Just won't move at all / The clothes/close [sic] in the closet / Miss you too / I love you Baby with all of my heart / Come on & squeeze me tight / Miss you so bad I bout to loose [sic] my mind". The second example reads: "Your lips in the pictures / Just won't move at all / I love you baby / [line marked out] / It's as simple as that". And the final example: "Come on Home & Squeeze me tight". The lines "I love you baby with all my might / Come on home and squeeze me tight" made it to the recorded version. These fragments provide a unique look into SRV's creative process. Some minor moisture spotting, wrinkling and creasing to the napkins but the handwriting is largely readable and in excellent condition. COAs from Janna Lapidus Leblanc and Heritage Auctions.A stunning New Zealand beauty and the last love - and fiancée of legendary Blues guitar icon Stevie Ray Vaughan, Janna Lapidus Leblanc lived with Vaughan for the final years of his life, from 1987 to 1990. During that time, the successful model took multitudes of photographs documenting their life together. Decades after Stevie's untimely passing, Leblanc released Four Years in Pictures: Offstage with Stevie Ray Vaughan, a photo-heavy book giving fans an intimate glimpse into not only the couple's relationship, but his recovery, and as the title states, an offstage look at his rise to stardom.
