Description
The Beatles, Signed Please Please Me Mono UK First Pressing Record Sleeve (Parlophone PMC 1202, 1963). Vintage album cover for the British Parlophone Records edition of the Beatles' first LP, autographed beautifully on the reverse by the band members in large, bold script written in fountain pen. (Lot only contains the sleeve and it does not come with the disc.) The Beatles were appearing on the ABC TV variety show Big Night Out on February 23rd, 1964. The album was signed for a fan while the band was filming a comedy skit for the show. They took a boat ride down the river Thames and boarded near to the television studio in Teddington. Most collectors would be hard-pressed to name a Beatles item more desirable than their groundbreaking first UK album.Rush-released on March 22, 1963 in the UK to capitalize on the success of singles "Please Please Me" and "Love Me Do," the album was the first of what would be many groundbreaking, chart-topping LPs released by the Beatles over a relatively brief seven years. The album holds the #39 spot on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
Signed copies of the album are very rare and highly desirable. The cover exhibits some discoloration, corner bumping and handling/edge wear. Accompanied by a COA from Beatles historian Frank Caiazzo. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
