Description

Dan Aykroyd Signed Briefcase (ca. 2000s). Textured black leather briefcase with 2- black swivel handles and brass-colored hardware including push latch opening mechanism, modeled after the briefcase featured in live performances of the Blues Brothers Band and signed in silver felt tip prominently to front center, "Dan Aykroyd / Elwood". The band consisted of Dan Aykroyd as Elwood Blues and John Belushi as Jake Blues. A black briefcase similar to this one was a staple prop of the group's live performances, in which Aykroyd would bring a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist on stage, from which he would remove a harmonica before launching into the night's set. The briefcase also inspired the name of the group's first album, Suitcase Full of Blues, which topped charts and went platinum. The group, which originated during Aykroyd and Belushi's storied time as cast members on Saturday Night Live, is perhaps best remembered for the 1980 Universal picture, The Blues Brothers. Briefcase measures approx. 17" x 11" x 6" and is accompanied by a pair of silver-colored handcuffs and corresponding key for display, 2- Timex digital watches, 1- "Chicago Blues" patch modeled after a policeman's patch, and several pins and paraphernalia from Blues Brothers-related gatherings in the 1990s and 2000s. Briefcase exhibiting wear from age and handling including rubbing and scuffs to the leather throughout. Comes with a full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
