2001: A Space Odyssey (MGM, 1968), Promotional Artwork and Press Book. Vintage original group of (3) promotional items for Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) including (2) black-and-white photostat illustrations on artist's boards, measuring approx. 11" x 13.85" and 23.75" x 12.75". Both are hand-embellished with ink and gouache, the smaller includes 1-paste-up element. (1) board features the iconic image of Dave Bowman (Keir Dullea) jogging aboard the space station and later confronting HAL-9000, and (1) shows astronauts on the Moon just before discovering the monolith, with a pasted-on lunar lander, additional black paint, and motion lines indicating flight. Also included is (1) 10.75" x 13.5" folio containing a 4-page color press release highlighting promotional art and production details. It reads: "It is a story that will sweep you across the slow dawn as the Earth wanes in the sky... As no other movie has done, 2001: A Space Odyssey reveals the strangeness, beauty and wonder we will discover on the Moon, the planets, and among the stars..." Items show expected age and wear, including bent corners, edge wear, and pin holes. The folio exhibits even toning, staple holes, minor tears, and light foxing. The color pages have separated from their original adhesive. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
