Description

Clyde McPhatter, LaVern Baker 1962 Chicago Jumbo Concert Poster. An original jumbo cardboard window card advertising R&B stars Clyde McPhatter and LaVern Baker playing at the Tivoli Theatre in Chicago, Illinois in the spring of 1962. Clyde's newest single was "Lover, Please" and it's given below his photo. He had logged eight Top 10 R&B hits in the 1950's, and that was after he departed the Drifters. LaVern had produced ten top tenners, and would have another one later this year with "See See Rider." The Crests were still able to tour based on their 1958 smash "16 Candles," and Pigmeat Markham was an up-and-coming comedian (remember "Here Comes the Judge" in 1968?). A lovely red, white & green window card, and the only one we've ever seen. Measures 22" x 28" and grades to strong Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Board has a ½" vertical tear in top center margin directly above the "V," which goes into the green. Very light two-inch surface crease at the end of "Tivoli" at bottom center. Brown smudging on the "ER" or "Mayer" in the same location. Top edge bumping at the top, over by each corner, especially on the right. Top center and bottom center have light horizontal surface creases that are barely visible. A printer's flaw (not considered damage) left some red smudging at the end of "Markum."
