Description

Jethro Tull 1970 Aragon Ballroom, Chicago Colorful Concert Poster. An original, pre-show-printing concert poster advertising the arrival of Jethro Tull, Cactus and two other acts at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday evening, July 15, 1970. Obviously terrific graphics on this one, with Tull's Ian Anderson being his usual wild-eyed self with flute at mic. The cartoonish colors work really well on this, easily one of the best JT concert posters from the band's early era; its an extremely sought-after image and there's simply no supply. Throw in the fact they were touring behind Benefit and you've got a real 'yowza.' Measures 17 3/8" x 22 1/4" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Usually when a band has changed names or morphed forward with new members, the new band name is trumpeted and the old name is mentioned parenthetically. So we find it funny that this poster does the opposite with Cactus/Vanilla Fudge.

Condition details: When you have lots of black on glossy paper like this, surface creases are inevitable, and this has a few. They're most prominent down below "Aragon Ballroom." Resulting little curved white marks, very benign, are sometimes visible. There's also a surface blemish in the black to the left of "Aragon." There's a half-inch edge tear in the top yellow margin through the "C" in "American." Upper left corner area has a couple of surface creases and edge-nicks, but only in the yellow. Lower right corner has a two-inch diagonal crease that goes through the "e" of "Clyne."
