House of Cards (Universal, 1968), Inger Stevens "Anne" Costume Sketch for a Black Coat-Dress with Fur Hat by Edith Head. Vintage original House of Cards (1968) costume sketch accomplished in gouache, graphite and ink on 13.5" x 19.5" artist's board by legendary costume designer Edith Head. Sketch features Anne (Inger Stevens) wearing a black coat dress with a large mink-colored fur hat, accented with pearls and matching her final film attire. The production began filming in Paris with a different leading lady who suddenly withdrew, with Inger Stevens chosen as a replacement. Since all costumes had been shipped to Paris, new costumes were created for her and were shipped to Rome before filming resumed at Cinecittà Studios. Signed boldly by Head in lower left, with actress and film title identification at upper right. Verso exhibits simple incomplete cameo "doodles", presumed to be hat variations. Exhibiting age, production handling and light creasing at left margin. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
