Description
Soldier in the Rain (Allied Artists, 1963), Jackie Gleason "Maxwell Slaughter" Military Dress Uniform. Vintage original (2) piece Master Sergeant's dress uniform as worn by Maxwell Slaughter (Jackie Gleason) in the 1963 buddy comedy film Soldier in the Rain, consisting of (1) beige dress jacket with peak lapels, 4- brass button closure featuring the Great Seal of the United States emblem, 2- hip pockets, 2- breast pockets all with brass seal buttons, Master Sergeant's and Class A Army shoulder sleeve insignias, decorations and dressings to both breasts, and shoulder epaulettes with brass eagle buttons, retaining internal Western Costume Co. bias label typed, "Jackie Gleason" "2888-2", and (1) pair of matching beige dress pants with zipper and hook-and-eye closure, retaining internal Western Costume Co. bias label typed, "Jackie Gleason" "2888-3" and Western Costume Co. stamp to waistline. The film was adapted from the 1960 William Goldman novel of the same name. Items exhibiting expected production wear and age, including an approx. 3" repair to upper right region of the pants and a larger tear to inside lining of jacket.
