Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (TCF, 1999), Ray Park "Darth Maul" Hero Dueling Lightsaber. Original double-sided lightsaber hilt cast in resin, with machined-metal end caps and an internal steel core running through the weapon's body for added weight and strength. It is finished in silver paint, with a dark black wash applied to give additional depth to the detailing throughout. This particular version of the Sith Lord's iconic weapon was finished with hero prop detailing on the machined metal emitter end caps, while the activation buttons and other protruding detailing along the length of the resin hilt have been sanded down smooth and repainted as is the case on dueling prop examples. This hybrid configuration of the prop was tailor-made scenes requiring intricate lightsaber combat in close quarters, where computer-generated blades would be utilized. One such instance is when Darth Maul (Ray Park) triumphs over Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) in a harrowing lightsaber duel, piercing him to the dismay of his Padawan apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Prop measures approx. 21" x 2". Exhibits production wear including scratches and nicks in the paint.
