Breen, adapted from the 1961 novel by Leo Rosten. Very Fine. The film was adapted from the novel by Leo Rosten, which was loosely based on the experiences of Rosten's friend, Dr. Ralph Greenson, who pioneered research into the association of posttraumatic stress disorder, many years before that terminology was ever developed, with wartime experiences. After the war, Dr. Greenson became a director of the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Institute and his patients included Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Vivien Leigh. The film received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor, Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, and Best Sound.
