Desi Arnaz Personal Conga Drum (ca. 1950s). Vintage original barrel-shaped conga drum made in Mexico and constructed of coated wooden shell with metallic steel bands, natural rawhide head, reinforced side plates, leather handle, and rubber standing feet. Measures 29" x 12" and exhibits signs of age and wear including rust to the metallic components, detached leather handle, and scuffs to the body. Rawhide head shows almost no blemishes. Accompanied by an LOA from Arnaz's former manager, Bill Lazerus, stipulating that this conga drum was played by Arnaz during a television commercial commemorating the 30th anniversary of I Love Lucy, the television program for which he gained astronomical fame, as well as on a CBS radio program from the 1950s called "Your Tropical Trip".
