Breakfast at Tiffany's (Paramount, 1961), Rare Audrey Hepburn "Holly Golightly" Costume Sketch for Dress from the Opening Sequence in Front of Tiffany's by Edith Head. Vintage original costume sketch accomplished in gouache and ink on 14" x 17" artist's paper by legendary costume designer Edith Head. This rare production sketch is for the dress worn in front of Tiffany's at the beginning of the film. Head's notes indicate the bottom fringe is to be removed. The black wrap was changed to white and the white gloves were changed to black. The white pouf hat was changed to a jeweled tiara. The only other sketch of this opening shot dress that we are aware of was sold by Christie's South Kensington for $113,000 on December 5, 2006. Unsigned. Exhibiting age, production handling with scattered stains and ink marks on the verso. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
