Description

Carl Barks Rich Finds At Inventory Time CB Oil #141 Painting Original Art (1994). Here's something to quack about! The single most desirable Uncle Scrooge painting ever done by the character's creator, the legendary Carl Barks! Originally commissioned by Steve Geppi, this piece is the largest and, in our opinion, the greatest of Barks' many 'Duck paintings' of the famed Disney characters, and certainly the grandest Money Bin painting that Carl Barks ever produced. (His Money Bin paintings are universally considered the most desirable by collectors.) The amount of detail, the rich colors, and even the occasional hidden bit of whimsy make for a truly stunning work that you can stare at for hours! Which, considering how much work Barks put into it, is highly recommended. It reportedly took him eight weeks just to do all of the detailed coins in the lower portion of the piece... and that was just the coins, not figures or other items!
Uncle Scrooge McDuck is looking delighted while Huey, Louie, Dewey, and Donald are working hard. They are surrounded by an opulence of wealth, including a barrel of 1795 silver dollars, a box of 1907 gold eagles, a bucket of rubies, a wheelbarrow full of diamonds and emeralds, and Donald is standing on a platform made of gold bullion bricks! And plenty of humor. We particularly like the puns in the Oso Safe name, and the sign that reads "MINE All Mine!". Another nice touch is that the bird above the arched doorway in the background is not an eagle but a duck (of course).
The work bears the honor of being used for the second Carl Barks limited edition print produced by Walt Disney Studios in 1994.
This massive beast of a piece is easily -twice- the size of Barks' usual sized oil pieces, with an image area of 35" x 28". Created in oil on Masonite board, it is open-front framed to 44" x 37", and signed by Barks in the lower right of the image area. In Excellent condition.
It's by far the largest and most impressive tour-de-force masterpiece by the great "Duck Artist" that we have ever seen.
