"Paris" Marquee (2) Signs from the Paris Theatre, New York City (1948). Vintage original (2) illuminating signs from the historic Paris Theater in Manhattan, NY. Constructed of stainless
steel casings with opaque yellow resin facings containing internal neon lighting elements. The 581-seat Paris Theater opened on as a single-screen movie theater located across the street from the legendary Plaza Hotel. The theater was opened by Pathé Cinema on September 13, 1948, when actress Marlene Dietrich cut the inaugural ribbon in the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to France. Lowe's Theaters took over operations in the early 1990's renaming it The Fine Arts Theatre until 1994 when the space was purchased by Sheldon Solow, a New York City-based real estate developer. Both signs measure 6 feet x 30.5". One sign is operational and includes a transformer and one untested without transformer. Exhibiting expected age and wear. In vintage Very Good condition.
