Description

DC Batman Toys, License Plates & Memorabilia Lot (various, 1966-73). A dynamic cross-section of Batman's Silver Age merchandising legacy, this collection spans the height of 1960s Batmania through the early 1970s. Highlights include a tri-color 1966 license plate featuring Batman soaring over a Gotham skyline, and a mini Batmobile replica plate marked "2F3567," both colorful examples of the character's mid-'60s pop-culture saturation. Also featured is a framed stitched Batman portrait (c.1966), an endearing tribute that reflects the character's widespread appeal even to bedroom walls. The centerpiece is a Captain Action Batman set (Ideal, 1966), complete except for the grappling hook and string. The outfit includes the cowl, cape, gloves, boots, and suit, along with a bonus Hong Kong Captain Action/Batman flicker ring. Also included is a pair of Batman Bat Coders, the dual walkie-talkie-style gadgets housed in their original but heavily worn box & plastic tray, showing taping and structural wear from use. Completing the ensemble is the Batman & Robin Vinyl Play Set (Ideal, 1973), a complete example featuring all cardboard stand-up characters and vehicles, including Batman, Robin, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and the Batmobile. Most items show signs of use consistent with age but remain in good overall condition, with strong display appeal and vibrant colors intact. Together, these pieces chart Batman's rise from comic book crimefighter to full-fledged cultural phenomenon-an eclectic and nostalgic collection that perfectly captures the imagination of Gotham's golden merchandising age.
