Description
Tom Corbett Space Cadet Adventure Lot (various, 1950s). Blast back to TV's first golden age of space exploration with this four-piece grouping that charts every corner of Cadet life-from night-time patrols and laser-pistol drills to classroom chemistry and cockpit vision tests.Signal Siren Flashlight (USAlite, c. 1952): Tin-litho body gleams with fresh, unfaded portrait art of Tom in an action scene, while the red plastic lens cap and built-in whistle base invite moonlit SOS signals. Out of its illustrated box yet showing only the most modest shelf rub, the flashlight is a standout survivor; its companion carton-now preserved in shrink wrap-retains bold primary colors despite heavy edge wear, rubbing, and age speckles. Also, comes with small instruction booklet.
Marx Atomic Pistol Flashlight Gun (c. 1952): Classic red body with blue selector dial lets cadets toggle from "BEAM" to "FLASH." Moderate play scuffs and edge wear tell of backyard skirmishes against the Lazoons of Vesta, yet the trigger and dial still function. A display-ready example of Marx's early crossover between ray-gun fantasy and practical flashlight tech.
Kellogg's Pep Space Cadet Goggles Premium (c. 1953): Deep green plastic lens with "Tom Corbett Space Cadet" written up top; elastic band remains stretchy, ready for another rocket-sled run. Peppering of small dents and honest scuffs attest to cereal-box origins, but there are no cracks, and the lenses still sit true.
Model-Craft "Space Cadets: Tom, Roger & Astro" Molding & Coloring Set (#53, c. 1954): Complete in its graphic lid box, the kit provides plaster, pigments, and reusable rubber molds for all three heroes plus Captain Strong, Dr. Dale, and Vesuvian. Components show age, and one mold has begun to crack, perfect for a static display piece. The box lid sports reinforced interior corners and heavy shelf creasing, but the dramatic launch-pad artwork remains vivid.
Taken together, these pieces capture the full curriculum of a 1950s Space Academy: illumination, armament, protective gear, and technical training. Whether you're assembling a dedicated Tom Corbett collection or curating a broader panorama of early American space-age toys, this lot delivers authentic mid-century optimism-ready to energize any collection with the command "Stand by to blast off!"
