Description

Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Everly Bros. 1957 Biggest Show of Stars Traveling Paper Poster. A highly unusual, very rare and enormous concert poster for the same tour in the previous lot, the Biggest Show of Stars for '57, but without photos of the musicians nor venue, date or ticket-price information. We surmise that his was a "traveling poster," one that could be used throughout the tour and put up at any venue, or anywhere period the tour was appearing in, and make perfect sense.

This large paper piece has been linen-backed like movie posters so often are, giving it eternal life and making it very frameable. And command the wall of a rec or music room it certainly would. Nice bright colors of red, white and blue, nine members of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and fun hit song titles like "That'll Be the Day" make this piece some major eye candy for any baby boomer or older who remembers the music. Please see our previous listing for details on the tour, the musicians and so forth. Very much a first-time Heritage offering, this giant measures 41" x 55" and grades to linen-backed Very Good condition. From the Jim Cook Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The piece now has solid 'bones' with the linen-backing strong (and roll-able if one wishes) and the preservation beautifully executed. It does have light surface scratching throughout, which you can judge for yourself from our picture. We can't tell if it originally had any damage or not but its integrity is completely there, so it was probably linen-backed for proactive preservation purposes and for easier handling.
