Description

Major Matt Mason Scorpio Figure (Mattel, 1969). The imaginative Major Matt Mason toy line from Mattel launched in the late 1960s at the height of America's fascination with the Space Race, blending scientific possibility with pulpy sci-fi fantasy. Among its strangest and most visually striking creations was Scorpio, an alien ally whose insectoid appearance, glowing eyes, and flexible limbs set him apart from the astronaut crew. Marketed as Mason's mysterious extraterrestrial friend, Scorpio stood out with a vest projector accessory and battery-operated features, cementing his reputation as one of the line's most otherworldly and memorable figures. This example remains unused in its original open box, with the figure and components intact inside the packaging. The box shows moderate shelf and edge wear, including corner splits, creases, small tears, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. Window remains intact but has an abrasion in the middle of it. See images for further condition details. Items are sold as is. A cornerstone piece from one of Mattel's most inventive lines, Scorpio embodies the late-1960s collision of imagination, space exploration, and toy innovation. For collectors seeking to expand their Major Matt Mason galaxy, this alien ally is ready to join your crew.
