Flash Gordon Playset & 3 Action Figures (Mego, 1976-77). In the 1930s, sci-fi heroes rose to prominence in pulp magazines, with Flash Gordon becoming one of the most popular. From comic strips and serials to feature films, toys were the next logical step. Enter Mego. Mego achieved great success with their 8" line of fully articulated figures, using a consistent body mold with interchangeable heads and cloth outfits to cover various franchises cost-effectively. Holding licenses for characters from DC, Marvel, Star Trek, and Planet of the Apes, Mego became a big name in the toy industry.

Offered in this showcase is the Flash Gordon Playset and a group of three action figures released by Mego in 1976 and 1977. The figures included a loosely carded Ming the Merciless, Dr. Zarkov, and Flash Gordon. The figures included are Ming the Merciless, Dr. Zarkov, and Flash Gordon. The figures and playset are in preowned condition, complete with original accessories. Each figure features iconic cloth costumes, detailed head sculpts, and classic Mego articulation. Flash Gordon's helmet shows paint wear and there is a small crack on his holster. Ming the Merciless comes on an original card with a torn bubble and appears to be in unused condition. Dr. Zarkov has paint wear on his helmet, is missing his holster and shield. The playset includes Ming's throne and Dr. Zarkov's computer, and three interchangeable character cardboard inserts. The vintage set shows additional handling wear with scratching and scuffing throughout. These figures and playset remain highly collectible today, cherished for their nostalgic appeal and historical significance in the toy industry. The Mego Flash Gordon series is renowned for its quality and its faithful capture of the beloved sci-fi hero and his universe.
