Captain Video Lot (Plaxall/DuMont/Lido/Monthly Publication, 1950s). A retro rocket blast of mid-century sci-fi charm, this Captain Video lot beams in four distinctive vintage treasures from the golden age of space-themed adventure. Released between the early 1950s and mid-1950s by Plaxall, DuMont, Lido, and Monthly Publication, the collection includes the rare Official Captain Video Space Helmet No. X-10-an eye-catching relic molded for imaginative intergalactic play-and the Captain Video 2-Way Telephone, a "modern! scientific! educational!" toy that boldly required no batteries or electricity to spark wonder. The set also features a copy of Captain Video #2 comic book titled "The Time When Men Could Not Walk," originally published in 1951, offering pulpy thrills straight from the era's space-obsessed pages. Rounding out the lot is the Lido Captain Video Super-Site toy pistol with holster, molded in striking red plastic with a white trigger and still boasting a functional mechanism. The pistol and holster show signs of wear, including scratches, scuffs, and surface rubbing. Both the Space Helmet and 2-Way Telephone come in their original packaging, which shows typical signs of age including edge wear, corner bends, dents, surface discoloration, and creases. The 2-Way Phone packaging also includes a tear in the cut-out display window. Despite the wear, these artifacts stand tall as vibrant emblems of early television-era imagination, where cardboard control panels and plastic blasters fueled epic adventures among the stars.
