1966 Topps Comic Book Foldees - Unopened Encased Wax Packs Group of 2 - GAI 7.5 .
The 1966 Topps "Comic Book Foldees" series presents a unique and quirky concept, inspired by a 19th-century tobacco card set and brought to life by Woody Gelman, a long-standing card collector who served as an editor and art director for Topps, primarily working for the chewing gum company in collaboration with DC Comics. These collectibles from Topps are distinctive gum pack novelties, measuring 4-3/4" by 2-1/2" and featuring tri-panel designs with die-cut perforations and hinges that permit the swapping of heads and/or bodies between different characters. Each card includes two perforated panels showcasing a superhero on one side and two different characters on the reverse. By folding these panels in various ways, collectors can create "9 funny pictures," as indicated on the card. This interactive design means that finding cards with panels that remain unfolded and fully intact is quite challenging.
