Le Mans (National General, 1971) Steve McQueen Racing 8" x 10" Photographs (10) and Camera Negatives (24) by Mel Traxel. Vintage gelatin silver glossy 8" x 10" (1 duplicate) and 7" x 9" (1) photographs and 35mm camera negatives on safety film by Mel Traxel of Steve McQueen in Le Mans, including of the camera car, driving his Cooper Formula Junior, the only open-top car he owned and raced, Cotati, CA, 1962, and with Peter Revson, with whom he finished 2nd in the 12-Hours of Sebring on March 21, 1970, with United Press paper caption on the verso of two. McQueen broke his left foot coming off his motorcycle during a race and had his foot in plaster for Sebring, finishing 22 seconds behind winner Mario Andretti, who went into a 2nd Ferrari to finish. Andretti would have sat out the race after his 1st car failed but was so infuriated by the announcer giving full driving credit to McQueen despite Revson carrying the team.
