Tragically, the young actor died in a car wreck shortly before production wrapped. This is a copy of the first paperback edition of Edna Ferber's novel, signed in ink by Dean on the interior front cover, as well as on some pages by Dean and fellow cast members Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, Chill Wills, Dennis Hopper, Jane Withers, Robert Nichols, Fran Bennett, Charles Watts, Mary Ann Edwards, Monte Hale, Alexander Scourby, Felipe Turich, producer Henry Ginsberg, and dialogue coach Robert Hinkle.
