Description
Elvis Presley's Personally Owned Loving You Rare Acetate Group (1957). The acetates are rare enough, but this collection is unique, and not just because it's Elvis' own! Most of the acetates here contain alternate versions -- it's hearing the great tunes for the first time all over again! Included: a two-sided 10" 78 rpm acetate of "Mean Woman Blues"/ "Lonesome Cowboy" (Radio Recorders 10212); a one-sided 12" 78 rpm acetate of "Let's Have A Party" (Radio Recorders 10212, take A1X-11 and solo A-7); and, a one-sided 12" 33 1/3 rpm acetate of "Mean Woman Blues" that plays from the inside out. Both Radio Recorders discs display the original working name for Loving You, which was Something for the Girls! Also included is a two-sided 12" 33 1/3 rpm acetate with versions of several tunes that comprised the Loving You LP, including on Side 1: "Party" (A-2), "Party" (A1X-11), "Mean Woman Blues" (BX-7), "Lonesome Cowboy" (C-20), "Got a Lot O'Livin' To Do," and "Detour" (instrumental); and on Side 2: "Teddy Bear," "Cottontail" (instrumental), "Loving You" (farm version), "Loving You" (main title version), "Hot Dog" (Q-17), and "Got a Lot O'Livin' To Do" (R-13).
Finally, there's a one-sided 10" acetate of "Hot Dog" that's pretty hot, but it's not by Elvis! It's on a Recording United Laboratories label, with "Hill and Range" listed just below the title. A demo copy for Elvis' sampling?
