Description

Gone With the Wind Final Shooting Script Signed by Butterfly McQueen (Twice) and Dialect Coach Susan Myrick. One of the most successful films of the Golden Age of Hollywood, Gone With the Wind won a then-record eight Academy Awards and is largely considered to be one of the best American movies of all time. The ambitious production of the movie involved a cast of thousands, five months of filming, and a $3.9 million budget.
There was also unavoidable racial tension on the set, which was heavily discriminatory and segregated at the time. Margaret Mitchell's close friend Susan Myrick worked as a consultant and dialogue coach on the set, and she was known to have used a certain racial epithet in regards to actress Butterfly McQueen after watching her take direction during filming.
This copy of the final shooting script for the movie (301 pages, dated February 27, 1939) is, ironically, signed on the front cover by both McQueen and Myrick in black ink, with McQueen's signature in very large script. McQueen also signed the script a second time, on page 100 just below her most famous line from the movie, and added the date "12.10.77". The script is a rainbow copy with pink and blue revision pages dated March 2-June 16, 1939, and is accompanied by 13 pages of script footnotes with a few notations in an unknown hand. In overall Very Fine condition. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
