Description

Metallica/Queensrÿche 1988 Multi-Date Long Beach, CA Concert Poster. A vivid orange and black poster for a two-night stand at the Long Beach Arena featuring Metallica on their "Damaged Justice" tour behind . . . And Justice for All. Held on December 7 and 8, the San Francisco-based act was a bonafide blockbuster draw, packing arenas with their unique take on New Wave of British Heavy Metal with 1970s hard rock and early 1980s thrash.

The venue can hold a little over 14,000 attendees, and it was a perfect spot for Metallica at the time. With the decision to make their first music video (for "One"), their mainstream visibility grew exponentially thanks to frequent MTV play. With the release of The Black Album in 1991, they would cross into an even bigger threshold, becoming icons in the process.

But for these two shows - in which Metallica played three encores both nights - they were focused on songs from . . . And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, and Ride the Lightning.

Hard rock/proggy opener Queensrÿche was on a special trajectory at the time. Their acclaimed concept record, Operation: Mindcrime, on record store shelves. Hailed as a classic with its dystopian storyline, the Seattle rock band was firing on all cylinders with vocalist Geoff Tate front and center.

Poster measures 15" x 22". In Near Mint condition with some light creasing in spots, some ink fade in spots, and a small smudge under the "C" in Metallica. COA from Heritage Auctions.
