Description

Bobby Darin, Count Basie 1962 Albany, New York Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising popular singer Bobby Darin, backed by the Count Basie Orchestra, performing at The Armory in Albany, New York on Thursday, June 28, 1962. A fun red, white, black & grey board produced by the Murray Poster Printing Co. in New York City.

Bobby was on his usual role with popular song and hit records. He would have a Top 5 national hit almost annually: in 1958 it had been "Splish Splash"; in '59, "Dream Lover" and "Mack the Knife"; in '60, "Beyond the Sea" (actually peaked at 'only' #6); in '61, "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby"; this year, "Things"; and in '63, "You're the Reason I'm Living."

Measures 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. The main culprit here is light dirt & grime throughout the white surface. Upper left corner has a two-inch diagonal crease and a small tip crease, and the upper right has a strong little tip crease. Bottom two corners are also soft and bumped, with attendant small creases. Verso is soiled in general and also with a couple of black handprints, possibly from the printer. COA from Heritage Auctions.
