Violent Femmes 1984 New Haven, CT Concert Poster. A window card for a Violent Femmes show at the famed nightclub in New Haven, Connecticut, the Grotto. Playing on a Thursday and the last day of May of 1984, the trio was riding high off of the success of their self-titled debut LP and about to release their second album, Hallowed Ground. While many other bands were using distortion pedals and/or synthesizers, the Gordon Gano-led trio was known for their tuneful gems, usually featuring acoustic guitar, bass, and light drumming. This was the age of classics "Blister in the Sun," "Add It Up," and "Gone Daddy Gone."
