Description
Bow Wow Wow 1981 Roxy Theatre, Los Angeles Concert Poster. A tour blank turned into a multi-date residency poster at the legendary Roxy featuring the young new wave group, Bow Wow Wow. A well-loved poster that you just know was posted either on the Sunset Strip (where the Roxy is) or within a mile or two, with the venue and date written in by hand. Terrific that it says "First American Tour" across the top, reminding everyone today that they were a rookie band.Assembled by the man behind the Sex Pistols (Malcolm McLaren) with members of Adam and the Ants, paired with teenager Annabella Lwin, Bow Wow Wow quickly caught fire on the charts in England. Switching record labels from EMI to RCA in the States, the group was pushed ahead of their debut LP with the lengthy title of See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang, Yeah! City All Over, Go Ape Crazy.
The following year BWW had their biggest hit, a cover of the Strangeloves' "I Want Candy." But for this show, it was about a new and young group playing a style that was catching on with a bigger audience than punk did in the United States and the UK.
Measures 11" x 17". In Fair condition with fold marks through the center, tearing in various spots, loss in three corners, toning, creasing, staple holes, and adhesive staining on the verso. COA from Heritage Auctions.
