John Wayne 26 Bar Ranch Gold Plated Lighter (ca. 1960s-1970s). Original 14k gold plated lighter featuring a raised bull head design with faux bejeweled eyes and engraved text below it reading "26 Bar Ranch". Verso engraving reads "Stolen from / John Wayne / Louis Johnson" with engraving to bottom reading "14K Gold Plated / FLORENTINE / Made in U.S.A.". Measures 6" x 3" x 0.5". The lighter originally comes from the famous 26 Bar Ranch, also known as the Red River Ranch, that John Wayne owned with his business partner Louis Johnson in Eagar, Arizona from 1964 until his death in 1979. The "stolen from" line is an inside joke because people would steal John Wayne's lighters on set regularly. Item has not been tested, but does appear to still contain the wick, wind guard, insert body, the flint housing, and lid hinge. Exhibiting handling and wear as to be expected with age, with slight rubbing of gold plating along the edges. Does not close completely, with light ink staining, with scuffing to the gold plating overall. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
