Description

Isle of Wight 1970 Festival of Music (Hendrix, Doors, Who) Blue & Pink Concert Poster. An original, simplified, first-printing advertising poster from the famous 1970 British festival, with the music taking place Friday-Sunday, August 28-30, but this poster also including the two dates prior (August 26-27) for other activities.

They're not mentioned on this very small & simple poster - which would have been easy to post in all kinds of nooks and crannies leading up to the event - but the talent level for IOW '70 was as good as any back then, led by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Doors, The Who, Jethro Tull, the Moody Blues and a strong singer-songwriter contingent of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Donovan, Leonard Cohen, Joan Baez and John Sebastian.

This first-ever Heritage offering measures 24" x 15" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. Poster has just very light creasing & handling to the paper from the passing of decades. There's a very minor blemish in the white lines down under the "T" in "August." And the verso shows a vertical crease that stands out due to rubbing or grime, but it's not a factor on the poster's front. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
