Film Fantasy Scrapbook by Ray Harryhausen (A.S. Barnes, 1974), Signed by Harryhausen. Vintage original second edition revised hardcover 12.5" x 9.25" book detailing the career of special effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen through a black-and-white pictorial history containing personal photographs from Harryhausen's on-set experiences, personal anecdotes pertaining to each movie, reproduction poster artwork from classic Sci-fi fantasy movies from the '50s to the '70s, and a color portfolio of his special effects from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (Columbia, 1973). Harryhausen was an animator and sculptor best known for his work in The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (Columbia, 1958) and Jason and the Argonauts (Columbia, 1963). Copy is signed by Harryhausen in black ink to the inside title page. Item is bound by a red cloth cover and dust jacket depicting various scenes from his movies. Also includes 1- loose 6" x 4" color photograph of Harryhausen at a book-signing event. Arguably the most prodigious in his field, Harryhausen's work is a testament to the visual strength of stop-motion animation, bringing monsters and creatures alive that rival the first King Kong.
