Batman and Robin (Warner Bros., 1997), George Clooney "Batman" Grappling Hook Special Effects Gauntlet Glove. Original special effects rig for Batman (George Clooney) to shoot his bat-grappling hook in the action scenes of Batman and Robin, consisting of (1) black leather gauntlet glove with ribbed padding, a rubber bat-fin affixed along the wrist, black polyblend lining, zipper closure across the inner wrist, and an elaborate rigging system to activate the grappling hook (not included with lot). A metal rotation ring contained inside the glove is affixed to a Bowden cable system triggered by a T-handle piston operated off camera that would have created the grappling hook effect. Glove measures 7.5" x 19" x 5.5". Though the late 1990s in Hollywood were defined by the rise of computer-generated effects, Batman and Robin utilizes a substantial number of practical effects and stunt work, with this grappling hook FX glove being a prime example, allowing Batman to seemingly activate this tool with the flick of his wrist. Item exhibits production age, handling and scuffing with exposed wiring to T-handle. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
