Dave Brubeck and His Modern Jazz Group 1960 Buffalo, NY Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising jazz great Dave Brubeck and his key saxophonist Paul Desmond playing at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, New York in 1959 or 1960. The handsome black & orange design shows a smiling Brubeck at his piano and just as importantly, a full-length photo of Desmond, who played the immensely popular and influential sax riff on the classic tune "Take Five," which single-handedly defined the new trend of "cool jazz" at the time. Measures approx. 14" x 22" and grades to Very Good condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: The year of this poster is uncertain because no day of the week is given; however, Willis Page of the Buffalo Pops Orchestra left his position in 1961, so '60 is the latest this could be from, and our best guess. But it could also be from '59.

Condition details: Board has no problems other than a couple of soft corners and thorough toning throughout. On the verso, there's a small tape lift down in the lower left corner. The poster has not been trimmed; a sloppy printing job caused the bottom line of business credits to be cut in half, a not-uncommon occurrence with old boxers.
