R&B / SOUL / BLUES

Bobby "Blue" Bland 1963 Chicago, IL "Stormy Monday" Jumbo Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising "The Incredible" R&B great Bobby Bland performing two shows at two different Chicago venues over a weekend in mid-April 1963. Besides a great head shot of Bobby, the board is embellished with four delicious song titles, all recent Top 10 R&B hits: "That's the Way Love Is," that single's B-side "Call on Me," "Stormy Monday (Blues)" and, of course, "I Pity the Fool." Just a wonderful and rare poster of red, blue and yellow. Measures 22" x 28" and grades to Very Good Plus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: This remains the only specimen of this poster that Heritage has ever seen. This exact poster was sold by us back in July 2022, and that buyer has decided to consign much of his collection to Heritage here in spring 2024.

Condition details: There's a two-inch crease and a half-inch tear in the upper left corner, the crease reaching the yellow but stopping at the blue letter. There's also a very small ¼" edge tear in the white to the left of "Ashland." There's a ½" vertical tear on the edge right under the "$" of "$2.50." And there's about 8 ½" of surface creasing in the white and yellow, through and under the ticket prices and printer's bug.
