Description

The Beatles Group of (24) Anthology Rare Photo Transparencies (UK, 1995). The Beatles Anthology was one of the most anticipated television events since the Fab's made their debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Apple Corps manager Neil Aspinall had originally compiled footage of concert, interview, and television appearances from various sources around the world. From this archival footage, he assembled a 90-minute feature film which was tentatively titled The Long and Winding Road and was pretty much complete by 1971.

Fast forward to 1992, the project was resurrected as a six-part documentary series. This time, the surviving members of the Beatles were involved. John Lennon's interviews were sourced from archived footage. Neil Aspinall, the band's press agent Derek Taylor, and their long-time producer George Martin were also included.

The title of the documentary was now changed to The Beatles Anthology, after George Harrison was against naming the entire Beatles' career after a Paul McCartney song. Anthology was the working title but soon became the official title as the production unfolded. The documentary was broadcast on American television in three feature-length episodes.

The transparencies are mounted in Apple Corps, Ltd. mounts to an overall size of 5" x 4". This is a very rare and seldom seen set of transparencies. Being offered without copyright, this lot is a wonderful example of how Apple put together the Anthology series. All transparencies are in Excellent condition. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Connie and Dennis Dailey Monumental Beatles Collection.
