Description
The Beach Boys 1965 Sacramento, CA Classic Boxing-Style Concert Poster. An original vintage window card for America's favorite and most enduring band, The Beach Boys, playing at the Civic Auditorium in California's state capitol on Saturday night, February 27, 1965. Sac's Top 40 radio station KROY presented the two shows. On this exact date in Billboard magazine, the group's newest hit, "Do You Wanna Dance?," hit the charts, and their new album, The Beach Boys Today!, came out a week after this. The support acts this evening, though not listed on the poster, were Paul Revere & the Raiders and the Marauders. Measures 14" x 22" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
More Information: This was a "tour blank" design used by the band for about 2 ½ years beginning in late 1964. There was a blank white area left at the top and another at the bottom for local promoters to fill in the necessary information to sell tickets to their shows. Notice the wavy blue ocean waves at the very bottom, a nice touch.
Condition details: The lower right corner was bumped, resulting in a couple of small diagonal creases which don't come near the blue waves. There's a tiny blemish under "Los Angeles" at the very bottom. But mostly this is a case of moderate-to-strong brown toning around all four margins.
