Description

BG-133 Grateful Dead, The Who 1968 Fillmore West Concert Poster Graded 9.2. First-printing San Francisco concert poster advertising four sets of concerts in August 1968 at Bill Graham's newly opened Fillmore West Auditorium at Market and Van Ness streets. It's tough to top a poster with both the Grateful Dead and The Who holding down the fort. And this was designed by two of S.F.'s finest poster artists, Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley. It's been graded 9.2 Near Mint Minus by CGC (the Certified Guaranty Company). Measures 28 ½" x 22". From the Tim Backstrom Grateful Dead Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: One of the all-time most popular Fillmore West concert posters in the Bill Graham series, due to its commanding size, amazing colors, beautiful artwork, the involvement of two legendary S.F. poster artists, and the presence of both The Who and the Grateful Dead, perfectly placed at the top of their respective columns. Other musicians playing the concerts included Creedence Clearwater Revival (with only their debut album out so far), Quicksilver Messenger Service (ditto), It's a Beautiful Day, James Cotton, Albert Collins, Spooky Tooth and Cold Blood.
