JIMI HENDRIX & HAWAII... JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THAT COMBO

Jimi Hendrix Experience 1969 Honolulu, HI Concert Poster. An original cardstock concert-advertising poster for the Jimi Hendrix Experience playing at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii for two dates, on Friday and Saturday nights, May 30 & 31, 1969. Honolulu's rock radio station "K-POI FM Sunshine" presented the shows.

The first night was marred by amplifier problems, so Jimi threw in the towel after just three songs / 40 minutes. Saturday was the full-blown show as advertised. And then Jimi added a Sunday show for free, to make up for what had happened on Friday. On all three occasions, the opening act was Fat Mattress, headed by Experience bassist Noel Redding.

Heritage has been able to offer the handbill before, but never the full-sized poster like this. Printed on cardstock that is glossy on the front and flat on the verso, this poster measures 14" x 20" and grades to Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: Poster has just some typical light handling creases to the glossy stock, and a few instances of light scuffing to same, such as under the "1" of "31." There's possibly a couple of tiny edge tears on the poster's left edge, but they're so ancient, closed up or benign that it's hard to tell if they're tiny creases or tiny tears (1/8"), but either way they're buried and sealed from time. Mentioned only for full disclosure.
