THE ORIGINAL WALLKILL POSTER THAT ACTUALLY GOT POSTED

Woodstock 1969 Arnold Skolnick Poster, Rare Early Wallkill Version. An original summer 1969 first-printing concert poster, possibly a prototype, for the landmark Woodstock festival which gives the location of Wallkill, New York... which the promoters left behind in favor of White Lake/Bethel, NY. This is an in-between transitional poster between David Byrd's well-loved, smaller Wallkill poster and Arnold Skolnick's "big red" standard final-location poster.

Further evidence of this transition is the talent line-up... this poster is missing four acts that the final poster has, and adds one. Still not booked yet, and not found on this poster, were show-stealers Sly & the Family Stone plus Ten Years After, Quill and Bert Sommer. But this version does have the Moody Blues booked for Sunday, who didn't make the final cut for whatever reason.

Woodstock remains highly collectible as the most famous weekend in the history of rock, and the end of the peace-and-love era where everything seemed to go well due to the unified good will of attendees. Measures 21 3/4" x 32 3/8" and grades to Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

More Information: This specimen was once obviously posted to sell tickets, so that's exciting, as evidenced by the composure of its verso. There's an assortment of tiny nicks, bumps, micro-tears, creasing and such around the edges, and the lower left corner has paper missing. Also some expected surface creasing here & there. But this unrestored poster was printed with thick, robust inks that look as bright as the day it was printed, and the poster has what we call "good bones." In other words it's not a dainty, fragile poster, it's nice and hefty.
