Sharps New Model 1863 Carbine gifted by Kevin Costner "Lieutenant Dunbar" to the Sioux from Dances With Wolves. (Orion, 1990) Percussion cap rifle with serial number "91113" has both Sharps and Lawrence patents on lock & receiver with saddle bar and ring mounted on left side of frame. In the film, Dunbar arms his Sioux friends with Sharps 1863 Carbines to defend themselves against the Pawnee. Rifle has been deactivated. Exhibiting wear and production use.
